St. Lucy students use a variety of equipment that fosters both learning and independence. Students receive formal computer training in kindergarten and continues through grade eight.. All the computers are equipped with hardware and software that enables the computers to "talk" and produce both large print or Braille printed materials as needed. Each student is trained to use the technology and equipment that would best serve their needs. Some of the adapted material includes: Braille Note a note taking device, Braille writers, slate and stylus, cube trays, large print books, bookstands, etc. Besides the computers the children are also trained to use reading machines, scanners, Closed Circuit Televisions that enlarge printed text and a variety of Braille printers.
