Curriculum, Programs and Methods Early Intervention (for children birth to 3 years old) The purpose of this program is to offer vision and motor stimulation to enable your child to interact with his/her environment. Early intervention is meant to prevent or decrease developmental delays. This is a part-time program in which the frequency, location, and content are determined according to the needs of the child and wishes of the parents. Our instructor will work with your child in your home environment or at St. Lucy Day School. Parents' questions and concerns are addressed and instructor's suggestions and guidance are offered. Preschool (for children ages 3 to 5 years old) The purpose of this program is to develop social interaction through group instruction, to reinforce positive self-esteem as well as fostering learning readiness skills. Vision and motor stimulation are an integral part of this program. Kindergarten (children ages 5 to 6 years old) Your child may attend this program on a full or part-time basis. Our goal is to maximize your child's potential for learning. Instruction in special skill areas to enhance visual efficiency and/or sensory awareness will prepare your child to function well in his/her home and school environment. In addition, we follow the regular academic curriculum designed by the Office of Catholic Education for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for all the grades. Grade 1 - 8 Flexible scheduling permits students to receive instruction in special skill areas as well as the regular education curriculum designed by the Office of Catholic Education of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Special skills include: Braille, Orientation and Mobility, Daily Living Skills and training on special equipment. Small group and individual instruction permit students to learn skills specific to their needs, according to their potential.
